Ahh... Marbles

So now that my computer is up again, I can blog last weekend. Boy was it fun!

We started with a fun morning of doughnuts and a big mickey balloon to invite our kids to a week with Mickey. Boy is it exciting! Disney here we come!

Then we decided to go have a fun day in Raleigh. We found this awesome Marbles Kids Museum! We probably got to half of the activities they had but we were exhausted by the time it was time to go.

After all our playing we headed to the "Meredith College" to look for Meredith clothes. Then we had dinner and we stopped at the Temple on the way home. What a sweet day it was.

Felt Flower Hair clips

Thank you Anneka for the great idea. The activity day girls (ages 8-11) had fun learning how to make them. I thought I would show the process a little in case anyone wants to try them. It took me a couple tries to make one that looked OK. Payton even liked making them.

We just started with a sheet of felt. The long layered looking flowers we cut a strip from the short side. The single layered ones are half of a long side. Cut a 1 1/2 to 2 inch strip. Then cut the top either mountains or hills.
Threat a needle. We doubled it and just make sure you knot the end. :) Sew along the straight side, just a simple stitch.
Then gather (Pull the thread until the fabric starts to bunch.) Pull until you can see no more middle or very little. Then sew on the back a little to hold the gather. Knot it and cut the extra threat. We glued a leaf to the back and a hair clip. Super easy, super simple.
This is probably the simplest one of all. We just cut out different shapes and sizes of flowers and layered them. We just added a little glue from the glue gun and walla, oh and a little stitch on top for fun.
